I have used chroma strips from Boscoyo to mount pixels for my eaves. The wires are behind the strips so I am wondering about leaving these strips up all the time. Would this be a bad idea?

depending on how much they will be in the sun will determine how much of a bad idea. They will yellow and get brittle over time, but if not bothered by wind and such or water intrusion they can be fine for years.
There is a company that is making a fascia wrap that has spacing for nodes in it that is interesting.
I have tended to leave my fascia line up all year as it sits in pex tubing and is quite protected in there. The tube has ws2811 strips of the 10/30 variety.

I've left my technicolor 2811 pixel that are mounted under my eaves on for the last two years. I turn them on every day. For most of the year, I make them the color of incandescent lights. Zero failure. And while they do catch the sun in the morning, no yellowing and the wire is still flexible.
