I have three snowflakes with 50 pixels each. I would like to connect the three snowflakes to a single channel of my e 682 controller.
Is it possible to set this up in xlights as one channel of 150 pixels but have the capability to sequence the three snowflakes separately. Thank you

Yes it can...xLights will bake your Christmas cookies for you also if you like. Just create a custom model for 1 snowflake...use "1" in all the cells for the lights. Copy the model for the other snowflakes. Set them all to the same start channel.

Wow thanks Gil.

That option must be in the new Developer Beta, I can't see it anywhere.
;D
Have a nice Christmas Gil and thanks for your help this year.

Hi Gil , now that I have created the first model - help me understand this. I have created first model with cells numbered from 1 to 48. Do you want me to replace all calls with 1 . Should I have the two models in the same spreadsheet now.

You said the model was only one channel so using numbers higher than 1 is going to make it more than one channel. I don't really know what you have. If it's one channel then yes do exactly like I said.
No you don't need two models in the same spreadsheet. By the way what "spreadsheet" do you mean anyways? The custom model grid or are you using Excel? Either way you said the models are exact copies so click on the model, press control-c to copy then control-v to paste then drag the copy where you want it. If the start channel is the same they will all work in unison off the same channel.
So yeah just pretty much do what I said the first time. I'll be here if you need to hear it again...lol.

Hi Gil,
I would like to have snowflakes 1 to 3 on the same output of my e 682 controller but still be able to sequence them separately.
Snowflake one occupies channels 1051 to 1194.
If I assign the same start channels to snowflakes 2 and 3, would I still be able to have different effects on them at the same time. Thanks

You're the one that asked "Is it possible to set this up in xlights as one channel of 150 pixels...". You didn't say one output. xLights doesn't care what controllers or which outputs you use. You don't need to do anything special just create them and start sequencing. Look at the user manual and demo videos.

Thanks Gil. Sorry for the confusion

I have a similar setup: 4 identical snowflakes, two off one output, two off a second output.
I created a custom model, and mapped the nodes (on the flake) to the model grid-layout in x-lights (starting at 1).
I then copy/paste this model in x-lights for my other flakes. Therefore, for each flake (in x-lights), the grid layout for each model starts at 1. HOWEVER, you set your "start-channel" independent for each model--depending on your set-up. This allows you to control each separately.
In my set-up, the "start-channel" for my second flake was simply "starts after snowflake one" (likewise for flake three and four).

something to keep in mind the number of models off one output is only limited by the number of nodes the controller can handle per output. But what you need to watch for is the distance from the last node of one model to the first node of the next. I can do about 6 feet with out needing to add a null node in the line.
