Post by: ww1022 on December 21, 2016, 08:46:00 PM
Is anyone willing to share their programs in Xlights for a HolidayCoro, Coro Canes?  Thank you for any help.

Programs, sequence, model definition, which is it you are really looking for?

Not really sure.  Just starting to play with x lights and I'm really trying to figure out how to make green and white, red and white, red and green canes.  I have 16 rectangle modules per cane.  Thank you

Just pick the two colors you want and put a bar effect on them going up or down.

I believe the effect your looking for is this:

Select The Single Strand effect
Choose the colors you want
In Effect Settings, select skips, band size (1), skip (0), # of advances with get them to move
In Layer Settings, Render Style "Single Line"

Then play around with the band, skip sizes, and advances to get different looks.

Many effects work on candy canes.  I tend to use Marquee the most because it's the quickest to setup and usually works well with defaults except maybe backing the speed down.  SingleStrand, Bars, and Morph all work well also.

I have the same candy canes and for the most part I just use the bar effect and it looks fine.

All super helpful and thank you.  Is there any easy way to make the canes stripped versus a solid color?

Here is a picture of the Marquee Effect using white, Green and Red and stationary. These were taken to test before the front was attached. When the cover is on there is a distinct separation of each part of the candy cane.

I am considering cutting the top layer of coro off mine and trying to put a second set of rectangles in there this summer. Up on the roof they just are not that bright compared to some other elements I have.

On all of my coro displays, snowflakes, Bruno, and candles I had cut off the top layer just as you said. I took the blade off the cutter and nailed it to the bottom of a stick. It saved my hands from running against the cut coro. it did help a lot.

Thank you to all.  My issue was on the specs on the layout tab of the canes.  Everything is working well.
