I need to know how to place a order on Ray wu store DIRECT, not using this ALI EXPRESS website. thank you. and Happy New Year to all.
-
I have always contacted him via the Trade Manager chat program. Just give hime a list of things you want & pay him via PayPal.

Or, even easier - ray@rita-light.com
-
Ditto to what Randy has said. I only use the main site to find out what I need and then go direct.

+1. I just email Ray and he sends me an invoice to pay via paypal. Using paypal avoids all the CC hassles and foreign exchange fees.
-
thank you everyone, for your help.

I like the idea of what Gil mentioned....posting pricing and products people are getting from Ray. I want to see Ray in business for a long long time but I'd also like to see a sub 20cent 12v pixel that is IP68 so if those prices are possible from Ray I'd like to know how much I need to spend to get the discounts :-)

I find new products to get or new ideas from what people are buying, always like to see the orders. And once in a while can combine orders together and save some shipping money. Probably saved $300-400 in shipping doing group buys or tossing in with other folks.

Seems like this topic keeps coming up. We should just create a webpage and can log everyone's opinion so we don't need to read them so many times. If you are ordering $500 or less then going straight to Ray is probably fine. I'd be a little nervous with a $2,000 or $5,000 order. What happens when Ray gets hit by a bus and you're trying to show emails to someone in China to prove you bought something. I really don't know what would be better to deal with in times of trouble...the buyer protection at aliexpress or PayPal.

Really, I would choose PayPal in a heartbeat... 8)

Well I had to do an order last night and realized why I don't go directly to Ray. I don't have any money....lol. I buy with a credit card on file at aliexpress in a few seconds and my family can pay for it out of my estate when I'm gone... :)

HaHa. PayPal allows me to use a CC, Bank Transfer, or PP Balance, and I get buyer protection....... 8)

Until there's a problem no one is going know how good the buyer protection is from any of these sources. It's all speculation right now. I'm not sure PayPal is going to accept some email as proof of purchase.
-
The difference is with PayPal Ray will already have your money. If something happened and Ray is not responding you are not going to get your money back from PayPal.
-
I think you need to do some studying on PP policies. The transaction goes thru them, they control the purse strings......... 8)
-
PayPal is not going to hold funds until I say I've received the item. I've also seen people not get refunded after receiving an item that did not work. I hope you can sleep well knowing that I like to use aliexpress. I don't care which method you guys use.

By the way I'm sure you don't know what I meant in my post. It had nothing to do with your post. I have no idea who you are.

Besides being a great devleoper, Gil likes to keep all of us on our toes. I get a lot of smiles from some of his comments and wish I could be that snappy with answers.

Are most people buying the 20awg pixels grom Ray? I've always bought the 18awg from US based vendors and curious of the difference I would see if any. Or Amy con's of the smaller guage.

I confess that I have never looked at the wire gauge of any of my pixels I've bought from Ray. I can tell you that everything has worked great. I use a mix of TM1804 and WS2811, mostly WS2811 on all my newer stuff. I run 12 v and have lots of strings of 120 nodes with no issues and one of 128 nodes that is 4 yrs old and still works great. I also have never done power injection although I am finally thinking about it for a couple of Boscoyo Chromabulbs that use 143 nodes and that I want to run using a Pi hat YMMV, Just my 2 cents.

I also have enjoyed this thread and get a kick out of all the witty banter.
All 20,000 ws2811 pixels that i have purchased direct thru Ray, have come with 20awg wire. I run 5V pixels. I run my lights at 100% (i just tested 50% this week and will probably falcon controllers to 50% next year). I have always loved power injection (ok, nobody loves power injection, but i like the idea of running 12V less). I inject at the 100th pixel, no issues. I remember ordering some pixels with 18 AWG wire and they made minimal difference in voltage drop.

Power Injection
Sure just had to go there.
Everyone make more out of it than it really is.
I power inject everything no thoughts given
I run no power through my controller, just to run the controller its self.
That includes my receiver boards...........
