Title: Skipping Channels
Post by: babybear on February 25, 2017, 09:04:53 PM
Ok now starting to setup my models for next season. As I assign channels to each I know how they are going to be plugged into which receiver boards. Does it hurt by skipping a 1000 channels between  receiver boards/3 to 4 models? My show will use 23314 total channels. In my set up screen I will set it to 63 universes  32256 channels.
With the large gaps will this slow things down or should I tighten things up.

Its not really necessary if you go with #universe:1 as your start channel numbering scheme. You can reorder all your outputs later and xlights will work out your start channels. Using chaining where models are physically wired together.

See last year I had added a small model  in the middle of all my other models. and with out the holes I had to re number everything Including the controller. I did not plan ahead well enough. Now this year with the auto populate of the controller this might be easier. Thinking of how easy just add a model, channels and string assignment,  Just wanting to know if this hurts anything.

If you don't use absolute start channels then you don't need to do the renumbering. XLights will do it for you.
