Title: xTremeSequences Gives Back
Post by: bravado67 on April 13, 2017, 03:40:27 PM
www.xTremeSequences.com (http://www.xTremeSequences.com) has donated $40 to xLIghts and $40 to FalconChristmas for the month of March to thank them for their amazing work and dedication. The developers of xLights are the unsung heroes, and David Pitts offers best in class service and products that transforms blinky blinky to Disney worthy shows. I look forward to donating each month from the sales of my sequences. A special thanks to my customers!!!

Absolutely agree with that. They are making this technology accessible to a great many more people.

Well done. I send a little to both each month as well, and I challenge more to do the same - just a few $ a month to each might not sound like much, but when 100 or more people do it, it adds up pretty quickly!

Any chance the XLights dev's might start a Patreon campaign? I support a number of developers and find it is easy and interesting way to support the cause.

The method that seems to work best is to release the latest builds to Patreon supporters first, then 2 weeks later to the general public.

Also the developers give special progress reports to their followers and give their requests priority.

Take a look at CEMU on Patreon as they have a very successful campaign that brings in about $40,000 per month. Although very different type of software.

I would gladly support an XLights Patreon campaign.

I would prefer patreon, but do just send $ via Paypal each month. I am not sure if I'd agree with the delayed software for the ones who don't pay though, especially as 2 weeks can often be 2 versions or more :)
