Title: Create the Sequence Before or After...
Post by: MrLights123 on April 29, 2017, 06:27:56 PM
Hi there! First-time poster and user of pixels here. Do you have to setup the universes in Falcon first or only after you create your sequences? Assuming I'm using PixLite 4 controller off a Raspberry Pi and using xLights.

Any help would be great...I have lots of followups after that. Lol.

The programming software (xlights) is independent of any controller.  You can set up xlights and do all of your sequencing without any controllers at all.

Also, there is a method in xlights to setup your "connection to controller", which "pushes" that setup to your controller---then you don't have to duplicate your xlights setup in your controller software.   If I remember correctly, applicable to Falcon and Pixlite at this point in time.    Just thought you would be interested in this functionality....

If someone shares a sequence I just want to look at I will often just set up x number of universes of e1.31 multicast.  Where x times 512 will give me enough or more than enough channels.  Now I can look at the sequence in the program without regard to what hardware they are using or I am using.
