Title: upgrade computer

have and older computer and noticed that I have a lot of jerkiness in models while putting effects on a timeline was wondering what I need minimum to upgrade to and if there are any suggestions out there. on a fixed budget can't get crazy.

Cpu.

Which probably means motherboard, memory as well.

Get an Intel G3258 and overclock it to 4 Ghz

First it would help if you posted your old computers specs.  Depending on how old your processor is adding more memory and upgrading to a SSD can make a world of difference.

You are asking us to shoot pool in the dark, by not telling us the specs of what you currently have.
