Title: Newbie Network E1.31 sCAN LOR Help
Post by: PvtJoker on June 01, 2017, 09:13:27 AM
First off thank you everyone!!

Ok First the Equipment....
I have is 2 AlphaPix 16 controllers,  1 AlphaPix 4 controller and 7 LOR controllers and 1 E1.31 (sCAN) bridge for the LOR. All 3 AlphaPix controllers & the Bridge are hooked up to a Netgear GB switch and output 1 on the E1.31 is set to universe 50.

Ok now the problem...
In Xlights I have it set up the following way the LOR controllers are on Universe 50 at the top and the AlphaPix controllers starting at universe 1 to 36 just below. Now the funny part ... when I first hooked everything up directly from the laptop to the switch and ran the sequencer or Tester in xlights all the Pixels worked but not the LOR controllers. When I hooked the switch into my network with internet the pixels stopped working but the LOR controllers would work.  I then changed all the ip addresses on the AlphaPix controllers and the E1.31 (sCAN)to match my Subnet and Gateway but all that did was make it that I could control pixels wirelessly but not the LOR. Also when the FPP is hooked directly into the switch the same happens only the Pixels work but not the LOR thru the E1.31 sCAN that is hooked into the switch.

Any help would be appreciated!  :)

Where is the wireless you say you were controlling pixels?  You can't output to wired and wireless from the PC.  xLights will only output to one adapter at a time.  If you have a single hard-wire going to a router then you can use the wireless inside the router and its hard-wired outputs.

Thank you Gilrock for the help!!

Ok lets forget about the wireless. That was me trouble shooting and testing different things and found that the sCAN & LOR worked once I connected the switch directly to my home network in Xlights test but the Alphapix controllers did not.

What is happening now is when I have the switch plugged into the Laptop or the FPP the pixels will work fine with test & sequence in Xlights or test & sequence in the FPP software but I get nothing from the LOR.

I do have sCAN set to universe 50 and in Xlights set to Multicast and the AlphaPix are set to IP. I have tried setting all to Multicast and nothing worked I then tried to make the sCAN in Xlights to specific IP and it still did not work

Hope that explains that a little better. Sorry for the confusion :)

Thanks Again!

Just a litte nit the acronym is sACN for streaming ACN.  Since you are running the LOR outputs through an E1.31 bridge it's not a requirement that they be listed first.  I believe the requirement to list them first is only if you are importing LMS data from LOR.  To xLights it just looks like another E1.31 output.  I would recommend to try setting everything to unicast.  Some hardware doesn't handle multicast well.

I believe at one point, the alphapix couldn't do multicast. Check with holidaycoro on that. Also make sure you have the lastest firmware, again check with holidaycoro on that.
