Title: Import singing faces from Vixen 2.1 to xLights
Post by: Mangrove on September 23, 2017, 08:16:23 PM
I have many halloween singing face sequences in Vixen 2.1 that I'd like to import into xLights. Based on reading various posts it looks like this can be done but with one huge limitation; you can't edit the imported sequence but you can add to it.

I'd like to edit the singing faces once I get them in xLights as I'd like to make some improvements.

Can I import a Vixen 2.1 sequence into xLights and edit the imported sequence or do I need to start over for Halloween?

Thanks in advance for your help!

You can import and then convert each node to a editable effect.  Takes some time to do, but better than loosing everything you've done before.

It really depends on what you are trying to do. Are you just focussed on the singing faces ... because they come in easily ... you can even convert them to pnonemes and use them for other singing elements.

Thanks for the replies. Yes at this point I'm really just focused on the 8 channel singing faces.

Are there any videos/step by step instructions for imports?  I'm new to xLights so the more step by step instructions the better.

My goal is to import just the faces of the dozen or songs I have. I'd like them to be editable as they're ok in Vixen but I'd like to edit them in xLights to get them perfect. I'd rather spend my time polishing what I have versus starting over.

Thanks again for the help!

This video shows how to convert channel data to phonemes.

It assume you have already imported the data as effect or a data layer.

Hi Keith,

I know I'm resurrecting a slightly old thread. This feature came out relatively late last year when most of my sequencing was already done so I didn't start playing with it until now.  :-[

This feature (Tools -> Generate lyrics from data) is a tremendous help in migrating singing-face sequences over from other sequencers!   8) The video tutorial is very helpful too.   In the video, you made a remark like "...I didn't include a way to save the mapping...".   I have a bunch of sequences I'd like to migrate to xLights this year.  Having to re-enter the same identical mapping every time for every singer is wearing out my mouse  ;D

Are there any tricks or tips (or even possible updates to the software) to be able to save or easily recall the mappings?  If nothing else, I don't mind editing .xml files if that's an option, but I'm not sure if that even applies to this or what would need to be edited.

I could add a mapping save/load
