All my tries have come up empty, so here I ask...
1) How do you re-sort the timing tracks? As I add timing tracks for different voices (lyrics), I sometimes find that I need to move the track to keep the like ones together. Though I can move individual elements in display-elements, I cannot reorder the timing tracks.
2) How can I rename sub-models? I made the mistake of not adding a designation of which model the submodel was in. When grouping like items (such as the base of the Chromabulbs) into a group, they all show up with the same name. I should have named them "base1", "base2", etc.

Not sure that you can move them easily, option 1 delete and redo in the order you want.
or 2. enter display elements - move the timing tracks out of the view you are using and then reload in the order you want or 3. create a new view of just those timings and models you wish to work on.
NO 2. i thinking redo all the sub models or maybe edit the xml file. Which ever one it is and if it exists, Will defer to more experienced persons on this one

At this point it seems you cant. An oversight I am sure we will fix next year.
