Title: CMB24D in Daisy Chain problem
Post by: BlackwolfK9 on November 06, 2017, 09:34:13 AM
My setup is F16V3, daisy from Eth1 on controller to F16V2, then out of serial port running LOR 16 channel controllers in normal LOR daisy chain using DMX.  I now added a CMB24D daisy chained from the last LOR controller, but no joy.  How do I address it to make it work?

Without seeing your XLights and FPP setup no one is going to be able to help

Not sure where you are in the process but have you changed the jumpers on the CMB24D to DMX? Have you set the start channel on the controller using the dip switches?

GOP = fpp autocorrect

I don't have a fpp in the setup.

I have set the jumpers to DMX, I set the starting channel at 161.  I assume that setting the dip switches in DMX mode is different than LOR mode since in LOR this would be the controller ID.  With this setup, when I got into xlights and try to do a test and turn on any channels from 161 and up, no lights.  I created a model, basically a matrix with 24 strings of 1 node each, and had it start at Universe 50 channel 161.  50 is where all my LOR stuff is.

Can you post images of falcon and XLights setup and layout model settings.

Here are the pics I think you asked for, if need any more I'll get them. This cmb24d is whipping my butt.

First thing that pops out to me is that you have the lights as RGB nodes....that should be changed to 3 channel RGB as the CMB24D is a dumb controller.

Have you tried a crossover cable from the Lor 16 channel to the CMB24D?

No, but I thought that it wasn't necessary with the jumpers in LOR.

Have you run the CMB24D in test mode to confirm that it's working with the lights connected?
Also check the status light to make sure that it's getting a signal.
If it runs in test mode and it shows that it's getting a signal from the status light, then I'm betting your problem might be that it's set with the wrong start Channel.

Does anyone know the step by steps to get a cmb24d working on xlights and how to address it properly.  I set the cmb24d jumpers back to LOR and then daisy chained it off my ac controllers and now its working. when i run xlights the colors are all out of whack and its on at goofy times so I'm sure i have an addressing/channel issue, just not sure where to begin.

The cmb24d is set to LOR ID 0B, which according to the chart is starting DMX address 161.  So I have my model starting at Universe 50 channel 161.  When I do a test lights within xlights the attachment shows which selection turns on the LOR lights both on the ac controllers as well as the cmb24d.  I'm so confused.

In the picture you provided it looks like it's set for Universe 51.

Yes it was, but I have since changed it to 50.

The saga continues and gets more perplexing.  As seen in the attachment nodes 24 and 25 of #4 candy cane, is turning on my LOR lights which are defined to be on universe 50.  Really stumped now.

I haven't even really looked at the pictures but it sounds like you have a problem with overlapping channels.
You need to run check sequence and fix any problems that you find.
Open up xlights and run check sequence before you open a sequence this will show you just the problems in your setup.

The check sequence shows no problems at all.  I just now deleted all my models that represented the LOR controllers. Now when I do a test lights in Xlights, node 21,24,25 of my 4th candy cane turn on my lights connected to my LOR controllers.  Attached image shows the candy cane definition.

Have you joined a zoom meeting before?
There's going to be many people in the zoom meeting tomorrow night and I'm sure we can help you out.
If you open up any sequence and package it up I would be able to take a look at what's going on, a packaged sequence would contain everything I need.
Unless you just want to provide your network file and your rgbeffects file

There is no way to attach a file in a PM unless I can't find it.

Post it here or is it a big secret.  You may laugh but I have a couple guys that insist on me not letting anyone else see their layout because they think its special.

I can't get it to attach , it errors out.  When I go to post I get a connection error.

Sometimes the forum runs out of attachment space.

At this point I would suggest you just sit down relax and forget about this for a little bit.
Then tomorrow night join the zoom meeting and we can help you out.
If you have a microphone or a webcam for your computer that you have xlights on would be helpful.

People are starting to pop in around 5 Central Time.
Once you have it on your computer you can pop in at any time and somebody can help you one on one if you arrange to meet with them on there.
In fact people are on there on a quite regular basis most evenings.
