One of my new models this year Mounted it up today Its sitting on a 21 foot pole. Wrote a quick sequence to make sure was working just fine. https://youtu.be/OSSY2F6ccMw

Looks great! (I had to look because I wasn't sure what a 'pine ball' was........lol)
-
Is that Boscoyo pixel strip going up the pole?
-
The center hub is a 3 inch tall steel pipe with 25 stubs welded off. then 25 x 32inch pex with 10 nodes inside each. the pole is 21 feet tall with 2 Boscoyo strips side by side

I like your strip tension method.
I used a fishing ball to make a similar ball out of incans a long time ago but are now thinking about changing them to pixels next year for July 4th and Christmas.
-
I use that tension method on my Mega trees. I heard the fishing balls would often break. that's why I went steel. Here in Rochester with the extreme cold and high winds, plastic does not hold up too well.
-
I never had problems with wind but steel would certainly take care of that.
I don't know how to weld so making a steel one is out for me. Yours looks pretty sturdy for sure.
Did you use pixels or strips inside your tubes?
-
I used pixel bullets. Thinking strips would need to be doubled up for a front and back. as pixels would only have a little dark where the wires pass. I'm using 3/4 pex A little tight but works fine
