Title: Matrix countdown updating?
Post by: clafont on December 10, 2017, 05:16:35 PM
All,

I am new to xlights and I've been reading the manual and watching videos.  I have the following matrix:
http://www.holidaycoro.com/600-Pixel-Matrix-Screen-Kit-p/779.htm

I am trying to do a new years eve countdown on the matrix.  I have the first line scrolling "Happy New Year".  The second line has the countdown d h m s.  The text effect and countdown effect show up correctly and scroll from the left.

Issue:  The countdown clock does not update or countdown the time. Whatever time it is when you update the effect is the time displayed.  Any advice?

If you use the "to date" formats then the Text field needs to be a date that follows the RFC 822 standard.  Something like "Sat, 31 Dec 2018 00:00:00 +0100"

Xlights writes the time when you render. If you want real time at playback you need to do the countdown in the player.

It updates on mine...it starts counting down just like any other previewed effect.

Yeah do mean it's not keeping track of the current day?  If that's the question then you don't understand how all this works.  Once you create an FSEQ file it's just data.  It's like painting a mural and expecting it to change while you stare at it.
