Title: Set up Issue
Post by: worksopian on December 14, 2017, 07:59:45 PM
While my show is running and the house is working great, i am having some difficulty getting my garage outline to cooperate.
I can run a test through the Falcon F4V3 and all the lights work, but when I try to run a sequence alongside the house, there are a couple of large gaps. I have stared at the screen and made some changes here  and there but cannot find the issue. Check sequence and check schedule are not telling me anything at all.
I am attaching screenshots of the F4V3 E131 and string port pages and also Xlights set up and layout pages.
Would very much appreciate another pair of eyes (or 20)
Thanks

Steve

Thanks for posting the screen shots, but the image size is so small it can't be read.  Can you post those with larger images?

Why do you have universe 42 set for 300 channels which causes that universe to end in the middle of a display element?  I mean you can make that work but I can't see the controller setup page well enough to see if your universe sizes match.

I have the roof on two separate outputs, the first one is 100 pixels, the second is 90 and the other two outputs each control 72 pixels. I tried running the entire roof (190 pixels) on one output spanning 2 universes but had similar issues.

Please tell us the model names that aren't working.  Also you really need to post larger images of the controller setup pages.  I can't help till I can read them.

Gil, In my second post there is a PDF of the E131 and Port page of the controller.

Regarding the models that aren't working, It seems to be the Right side of the garage roof and the eave (port 2 univ 43) and also part of the Left garage door (port 3 univ 44) and all of the right door (port 4 univ 45). I can get video this evening if necessary.

Lets stick to using the model names you've defined in xLights.  So in xLights you have "G Roof L" setup for universe #42 from channel 1 to channel 111.  So that is setup as 37 pixels but in your spreadsheet you have "G Roof Left" identified as 100 pixels.  Resolve that issue first.

Do I need to create additional string ports in the controller to make this work?

So what I have done is created 2 polyline models for the garage roof that reflect what is happening with the strings. The first one is 100 pixels long with individual segments and start channels that encompass the 37 pixels per roof side with 58 across the top and the remaining 5 start the right side of the roof. The second polyline continues the right side at 32 pixels and then goes across the eave at 58 pixels for a total of 90.

So everything is good to go now?  The problem with showing us a PDF is we have no idea if it's accurate.  You had the garage roof top starting on universe 43 in the PDF but now you're saying it actually starts on pixel 37 of the first output.  This stuff is really very easy you just have to match things up.  Once you had it designed in xLights all you had to do was make sure the controller outputs started on the right universe/channel.

Just wanted to say a huge thanks to Gil for the help and the kick in the pants (joking..!!). Everything is now working 100%.
Now it's time to try videotaping the show.
