Title: Large custom model with multiple ports
Post by: robbiet on January 22, 2018, 07:37:48 PM
I have a large snowman custom model. Basically I gutted a store bought wireframe and I am replacing with pixels. Anyway...

I’ll have a total of about 300 nodes. At first I was just going to do one continuous string with power injection but now I’m thinking of just using 2 or 3 ports instead and having multiple connections. It will make it easier to tear down if I wire in sections. So my question is how can I wire in separate sections/ports but still treat it as one custom model?  Is that possible?

You can. Just number them like one long string then seperate them in the controller configuration

Ok. So I would just use absolute channel reference to assign the pixels to the correct port. Will I still be able to export my outputs from Xlights or will that mess up my settings?  I really like using that feature.

No. Multi string custom models cannot be uploaded. But you can still upload all the others. It won’t break anything. Just leave the controller connection on this model blank. You will get a warning when you upload.
