Title: Edit submodel names
Post by: QldKing on April 18, 2018, 01:08:37 AM
I can’t see a way to edit submodel names in xlights. Would I be able to edit the models xlights file in a text  editor?

I have edited submodel names in the XML files. It works. Make a backup first. Not that I've ever trashed an XML file while editing. :)

It’s a feature that has been in the works for a while but not done yet. Because model names exist in the layout and rgbeffects renaming them is more complex than you would think.

I had the same problem today.  I just deleted the name and then added it the way I wanted it.  Its not convenient if you have a lot of nodes in there, but, it works

Thanks Keith.  I edited the file last night but opening xLights caused a lot of error messages. Its not important at the moment so I will wait so its can be completed inside the software.
