Title: NOTW Lights Show Setup
Post by: NOTW Lights on April 19, 2018, 02:42:53 PM
This is Michael, creator of the NOTW Lights show in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

My first completed show was in 2017. I spent the previous 2 years preparing, building, troubleshooting, creating 10 songs and even fundraising in Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1713481031/notw-lights-christmas-light-show?ref=nav_search&result=project&term=notw%20lights) to finish my show.

Here are 4 of my favorite sequences:

All 11 of my sequences can be seen in my Vimeo channel here (https://vimeo.com/user67040821).
Everything is DIY and since I don't own a welder, I used JB Weld Epoxy on the snowflake wireframes.
I currently only use a humble 1,963 lights in my show and it all runs off one e682 controller.
I sequence all songs in Xlights and play off a raspberry pi running FPP.
I only use 2 power supplies and showcase how I made everything in my website including links to supplies used!

Very nice job!  Your tune to sign is awesome.  Can you elaborate a bit more on how you made it?

Thank you Randy!
Here is the link to exactly how I made my Tune To sign: (https://mcoffing.wixsite.com/notwlights/forum/building-the-displays/tune-to-91-1-fm-led-sign)
It's hand engraved plexiglass with a Dremel Tool. I put some addressable strip lights in the base so I can sequence my Tune To sign with the show lights.

Vimeo started removing some of my videos due to copyright song issues. I had to set most of them to private so use the password "notofthisworld" to view videos.

That said, check out my newest sequence addition this year 2018! Took over a month to sequence!

Looks great. Love the up and down movements of the lights - fits nicely with the swells of voice in the song. Great job.

Your Tune To sign is pretty sweet.  Hopefully you don't have new stations popping up on your channel like I have for the past 3 years.  I have had to change channels every year.

My apologies if this is a duplicate reply/question (from someone ignorant to Dremel etching).  How deep was your etching or is it just scratching the surface?  Thanks in advance.

The 45 degree angle outlines were probably less than 1/8".
The fill was just scratching the surface, not deep at all.
