I have just upgraded one of my laptops to 2018.11, and now when I start I receive an error message quoting "Error 87" (see attachment). What files would be appropriate (and where are they located) to post for this error?

That not an error from xLights code. Are you using an ATI video card? Maybe try this:

\users\<you>\appdata\roaming is where the xLights logs are.

I finally found it. ;D There is a .dll in the Windows > System32 directory called atig6pxx.dll. By changing the name of this .dll to atig6pxx.dll.bak the error goes away. ::)
Apparently this problem has been around for some time. The instructions I found were from 2016. After doing the above, I also checked to see if this file gets rebuilt during startup. It does not.
Note that this problem is still in the very latest version of Windows (Spring Update - 1803). If you run across it, xLights will not start until you get past it. :(

LOL...you finally found it? That's the exact steps from the video I posted.

Now isn't that special. That video would not play for me the other night (on the machine I was using from the field - very slow connection). Didn't think to go back and look at your link when I got home. Just went searching. :)
