Title: How to create a Group of fixtures to react as one Matrix?
Post by: alonper on June 07, 2018, 02:41:58 AM
Hello friends,

I will be happy to get your help.
I am using ArtNet controller and I have 2 Universes.
I would like to create a Group, react as a big matrix (WS2811 pixels) that combines all these Universes but the way I wired the universes is a bit complicated: and the most important - I've got null pixels
How can I create such a group (please see attachment) that combines 2 different universes and each row connected as a "snake" order addresses?

Thanks in advance,
Alon

Create a Custom model and type in the channel offsets however you like.  You can have gaps in the numbering if needed.  The numbers in the custom grid will be absolute offsets from whatever start channel you assign the model.  So the number you use to start universe 2 depends on how many channels you assigned universe 1 on the setup tab.  If you for instance create universe 1 and 2 as 512 then in the custom model you could have your 1 through 50 and then start the next numbers as 513, 514, 515, etc. and those cells would map to universe 2.

Hi Thanks,
I am still struggling with that...maybe there's a tutorial for creating a custom model?

Should I create one custom model for every "row"?
Do I need to use the custom model and then go to "Model Data" and create there the total big matrix that I want and then insert there the channel number?
If I have 3 channels per pixel (RGB) how Can I  use it if there is different xLights channel number for R G B?

Yes I'm sure there is a tutorial.  I'd start by clicking the Wiki link at the top of this page.

No you don't want a custom model per row.
Yes create the custom model and edit Model Data.  You don't enter channel numbers you enter "Node" numbers so you enter 1, 2, 3 and you get channels 1-9.....unless it was a single channel model and then you would get channels 1-3.
