Now that I have my Setup in (all LOR controllers and pixels) I am not understanding something about the channel numbers...
I set up a Pixie8 Controller and told it to have 150 chanels per output...that would be a total of 1200 channels and that is what it shows in the setup tab. Actually set up two of them.
Now, I added both Pixie8s (which are 16 strand/25node per strand trees) in my layout tab and told it to start at channel 4092 for the first one (which is the number shown in setup_...but it says it ends at 6491 and it would seem to me that it should end at 5291 because in the setup tab the next tree starts at 5292.
Obviously, as a complete noob here...I must be missing something or misunderstanding something.
I decided to go ahead and try a short sequence with these two trees just for giggles anyway...and sure enough the effect on tree 01 bleeds over onto part of tree 02 which makes sense if it thinks the channel numbers overlap...so clearly I have something wrong.
I'd appreciate any help anyone can give me! Thanks!

I'd either need several screenshots or the xlights_rgbeffects.xml file and then give me time to analyze tonight. But I really think you should work towards moving to a DMX network. Our original LOR support only worked up to about 96 channels. I added this new LOR enhanced output that utilizes some of the better LOR commands for packing data but now you are trying to use 2400 channels. It will probably depend on the complexity of the effects you use whether it would lag or not. Maybe you have that split between 2 networks which will help. What's the max number of channels you will have on one LOR USB dongle?

I have it laid out now as 6 networks. At my old house I ran 7 but I'm not needing that many here at my new place).
Network 1 is 16 channels of A/C plus 5 RGB Floods (5 channels per flood)
Network 2 is 14 strands (7 Pixie2 controllers) of CCBs
Network 3 is 14 strands (7 Pixie2 controllers) of CCBs
Network 4 is 8 strands of CCPs (old style-5V LDP6803) on 4 controllers, 2 strands of 50 per controller
Network 5 is a 16 strand by 25 node pixel tree on a Pixie8 controller
Network 6 is a 16 strand by 25 node pixel tree on a Pixie8 controller
I hope to sell off all of my LOR controllers and move to Falcon....but until they sell I have to assume I am working with my existing LOR equipment. That is why I am attempting to get it setup so that I can begin working on my new show for my new house this year.

Ok I don't think I can figure out why the channel numbers are wrong without seeing the xml file.
-
While I"m on the PC copying that xml file over to my Mac, what other files do I have to have from the PC to start up at the same point I am now on my Mac?
Is it obvious when I look in the subdirectory on the PC???
-
Here's that xml file attached here...
-
Why not just copy the show folder over?
-
Duh!!!
Got it!
I'm trying to make this so much more complex than it has tone! SORRY ABOUT THAT!
Ok - I did that, it is running fine on my Mac and I can SEE everything because the screen isn't so small!!!
Thanks again for your help (and patience)!!!
-
Here's that xml file attached here...
I forgot I'll also need the xlights_networks.xml file.
-
OK..........
Here it is!
Thanks again!
-
So I don't even need to open this in xlights. I looked at the rgbeffects file and each tree will have 2400 channels. The number of channels for a tree is always # of strings times nodes per string so in your case 16 * 50 * 3 channels/node = 2400. The 2 strands/string just causes each string to wrap so you have defined a 32x25 tree. If you really have a 16x25 tree with zig-zag you need to define it as 8, 50, 2.
-
I'm still not getting it....
I have 8 strings of 50 on 8 outputs from the Pixie8
Each string is doubled over at the top of the tree making that node1-25 go up then 26-50 come back down.
you say #strings * nodes *RGB >>> 8 * 50 * 3 = 1200
So I put 1200 into the text box on the form for "LOR Controller Definition" with the type set as Pixie8 the Unit ID set to 80 (which is according to my network layout).
Then I click OK; then OK on the setup screen; then the Save Setup which is now Red.
Now on the main setup screen is shows that Universe 5 - where the tree is located - has 9600 as its Number of Channels.
But in the Layout tab i have # of strings = 8; Nodes/String = 50; Strands/String = 2
Then hit save on that.
But when I go into the sequencer and drop a bar effect onto tree 1 it shows on both trees tree 1 and tree 2 (which follows sequentially in channel numbers).
Is there someplace I have to hit "Refresh" to make sure all the settings I have changed carry through to all the screens? What am I still missing???
-
This screen shot might help you tell me where my mistake is...
-
I didn't mean for you to change anything in the setup tab. That's supposed to be "per output" so you have 150 per output not 1200. I was trying to fix your tree model on the layout tab where you had it coming out as 2400 channels instead of 1200. Sounds like you got that part right so just go back and fix the setup page.
-
Cool! Thanks again!
-
OK!!!!!
Thanks you! Thank you! Thank you!!!!!
It is working as expected now!!!!!!
-
Cool! Let me know if you get all 7 outputs running on the real hardware. You're probably stress testing that new LOR output more than anyone else has.
-
That's gonna be a while as I am only now getting things started! But, I sure will let you know!
