Hello ,
I want to scroll text over a 20m matrix.
its a 600x12 pixel matrix on 10 custom made panels.
I tried to set up a custom Model with 600x12 pixels but the max possible width is 500 .
So I now have a group of 10 custom models of 60x12 .
The result isn't nice because the text seems to be projekted on the preview and the matrix of each character gets blured .
is there a work around to get a custom model 600x12 ? eg. editing the "xlights_rgbeffects.xml" setting "parm1" to 600 and the adresses in"CustomModel"
Or is 500 pixels width a defined limit.

Why not use the matrix model?

I cant see how to adjust the adresses in the martix module.
It can only do a horizontal or vertical adressing zig zag over the whole matrix.
my modules have each two data inputs with each 6 rows of 60 pixel running zig zag.
see picture ( one of 10 modules)

You know how the power company has that phrase call before you dig? Same here you need to ask our advice before you build. We wouldn't have advised wiring like that.

Ok,
thanks for you answer.
so a custom model is limited to 500x500 pixels ?
no way to get this to 600 ?
I could do a zigzag on each modul. but I couldnt wire zigtag across the whole width,
cause its a mobile setup with kinda plugnplay.(10 pieces = 10 outputs รก 5 universes)
vertical zigzag isnt possible by design.
so I just wonder about my options.
Thanks for support anyway.

It's probably a simple constant in the code. When we create a control like a spinner we have to type in a number for maximum and usually we pick something well higher than anyone needs at the time. Did you try your idea of just modifying the xlights_rgbeffects.xml file? It would probably work because nothing is going to enforce that the entry matches that spinner limit unless you reopen the edit dialog. You could probably just see the format and fix it manually. That's just a workaround until someone increases the number.

If you create a group of your smaller custom models and set the buffer to horizontal stack it should do what you need.
