I am working on "It's the most wonderful time of the year". When I look at my megatree in preview it is doing what I setup and I would like to make changes to the sequence. However, when I open up the file in the NC tab, there are no xml "contents" when I open the megatree display element. I built the megatree effects in XL/NC this year, did not import from elsewhere, so I am not sure how to proceed.
I looked at the xml file and it appears to be ok. How do I get the megatree effects back into the NC cells??
thanks.

I would create a new musical sequence, pick the song, and select XL XML.

Oh duh that easy huh? Thanks FlyInverted. I'll try that.
Ok so I looked at my xml file and it contains my arch effects but not any megatree effects; my bad on that... But one of my earlier backup files does contain the megatree effects. How can I pull in the arch effects and the megatree effects? Should I do that in the notepad++ text editor??? I uploaded both of my xml files to this post.
thanks again.

I would not even use the XML file to copy the effects between songs, it's easier than that.
I would first open the sequence with the Megatree, use the XL/NC as if it were Excel, highlight the effects column and do a Control+C.
Now open the sequence with the Arches, add a display element - Megatree, highlight the first cell of Megatree and paste - Control+V. Save and enjoy!

Ok I will try THAT! Thanks again. GREAT IDEA WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT??? ? HAHAHA

I got burned by that same thing last year. NC only saves to the xml file the display elements that you last selected. Last year I did the same as you and worked on my pixeltree and saved the xseq. Then went back and dropped the pixel tree and added my windows and gutters, saved it and then tried to go back to the megatree but it was gone from the xml. That is why the view option is so nice. You can select all your display elements but only view what you are currently working on. NC sees that you have all your display elements selected and when it saves to an xseq it saves the xml for everything. The view option is kind of like an excel hide/unhide for data. The data does not go away it is just hidden from view. Another lesson learned Dan. Lucky you were able to find both xml files. I was not so lucky.

Thanks Flyinverted & Jim. I did the copy/paste thing in the "good" file and all is well. I did not realize that NC "remembers" the models you have "open" when you save the xseq file.... I must have had only the megatree model open at one point in time and only the arches open at another point in time. Thank you thank you thank you. I am rockin & rollin now. WOOHOO. :)
You are geniuses....
Yet another lesson learned. Now if I can just keep these LL in my brain. Stay there boy....

BE CAREFUL!!
I need to make big RED letters. When you go to the "Display Elements" screen. This is for adding or deleting models from your grid. We don't highlight how critical this is. If you uncheck a model, all effects for that model are removed, the model is no longer part of your show. Unchecking a model means deleting it from your sequence.
Now that Dave added views, it does what you probably wanted, show models you are working on without removing them from your show.
It has been true for two years but it is still bad UI design on our part, we will fix it early next year.

Live & learn, I guess. At least it was a "cheap lesson" for me this time....
