Title: Installation Hangs
Post by: algerdes on August 11, 2018, 11:49:40 PM
This has been going on here for several releases, but I haven't seen anyone else report it, so I am pretty sure it is on my machine.

During installation of a new release, I don't get any error, but the installation hangs at the same point each time.  The attached screen show shows what it is showing when it hangs.

"Extracting files... C:\Program Files\xLights\xScheduleWeb\inc\sidebarPlayerStatus.html"

To get around this, I first go into Task Manager and cancel the installation.  I then go into Apps and Features and delete "xLights version 2018.xx" (what ever the previous version was.)  After this, I simply load the new version and everything installs and works.

This is definately not a priority as I have a working method to get things back up and running.  I just wanted to see if I'm the only one, or if others have run into this.

Perhaps install outside of program files directory to see if it is a permissions thing... (eg c:\xlights)

Interesting thought.  I can't figure out what permissions would stop it from doing it, yet allow it to be installed if you delete the old files first.  and then I have to look at the fact that it happens on pretty much ever installation (updates).  And then on one machine...  Oh my.

I'll keep looking.

I believe its a service installed with Vixen that blocks it. :)
