Title: Arch and 12v Light Strip - groups of 3?
Post by: allknowing2012 on September 19, 2018, 06:14:14 AM
Doing some initial tests on my build and I notice that the led strip is showing lights in groups of three - is that normal? I tried for example to create a model and tell it to light arch-strand1-node1 and it lights the first 3 led's on the strip.

Normal for WS2811 strips.  For arches that works fine if you like strips.  There are other strips that light just one Led, but I am not a strip fan and cannot tell you the WS number with any accuracy.  I sold all my strips off and went to all nodes.

It's the little black chip that does the control so if you see one chip per 3 leds then its that type of strip.

Should I do anything in xlights or the controller so it knows I have that type of strip?

Not really you just need to know how many pixels you have so don't be typing in how many LEDS you see its how many control chips you have.

TM1809 strips are single pixel (12v)
Full ws2811 compatible
