Title: Posting to Youtube
Post by: poporacer on October 14, 2018, 10:47:49 AM
This is my first year, so I do not have any videos, yet. But I tried to post a video to YouTube and it was blocked due to copyright issues. I have seen a ton of videos on YouTube with similar songs. How do you get your videos to post?
I did file a copyright dispute, but will I need to do that for every video?
Is Vimeo any different?

In the last 6 weeks I've posted 16 previews of my Christmas and Halloween sequences to Vimeo and they are all playing just fine.  I also have videos with music (not necessarily Christmas stuff) and they have all been fine.  I do not have any unique options set in either site.  I just create a site and upload.  I often wonder if the folks that have problems are trying to make a few pennies per view from them or have some other options set and that may be why there is a conflict, but I really have no idea.

Did you post to YouTube or just Vimeo? When I posted to YouTube, I didn't select any special options and even selected that I didn't want to monetize (I have never tried to get per view revenues so I don't know how to do that). They listed a copyright listing and the music I selected shows that playback will be blocked in certain countries (247 of them and of course USA is one of them) Can you post a link or two of your videos so that I can see if the artist you are using has a different copyright restriction? I also would like to see your display! My set up is based on your advice (Master/Remote and show network) and so far seems to be working perfect!!

I just couldn't stand Vimeo when I tried it.  I haven't seen YouTube be a problem for me but maybe I've crossed some threshold of number of subscribers or something because they usually just mark it as having copyright content which allows them to place a link for users to buy the music but it doesn't prevent anything.  I can only remember 1 song that everyone said was blocked and that was SandStorm.
