I'm new to Xlights and have modest experience with LOR. I want to do a double spiral tree with 16 strings wrapping one way and 16 wrapping the other. The most basic move in a spiral tree is to sequentially light each string around the tree to give the spiral effect. That might be a single string at a time or it might be several, depending on the thickness of the band I want to spiral. I could hard code each individual strand to turn it on or off as needed, but that makes alteration of speed, size, etc, very time consuming. I have tried the preset spiral effect and bars effect, and I can somewhat simulate the desired result. But it looks more like a calculated rgb effect than a simple sequential lighting of the individual strands. (tough to describe). So my question is -- is there a preset effect that I am missing that would sequentially light whole strands going in a circle around a tree, whether spiral or not? It seems there should be such an effect that allows adjustment of speed and thickness of the band. Thanks!

I would have thought single strand effect would be best for this.

Maybe try Marquee. You can adjust the band size and gap size easily. Only thing it can't do is go super slow. Its slowest speed will move once per frame.

Thanks! I will give these a try. I think I’m missing a simple solution. Hopefully these will do it.
