Hi all,
Is there a way to get an effect to seamlessly loop without making the effect really long in time.
I'm using xlights in a live setting with 2 custom matrices as backdrops and using jukebox and xfade to que.
If there are lets say 30 or so scenes, i'd have to have a really long timeline to make sure the effect doesn't have a noticeable restart when it loops.
Is there a way to do this?

The issue is that it blanks for a frame as it loops?

No, it doesn't blank.
It just instantly starts the effect all over again and there is a distinct jump back to the beginning.

Then you need to adjust the length of the effect until the transition back looks seem less. Either that or make the effect really long. There is no other easy fix.

Okay.
That would be a great feature to add in the effects settings.
Thanks for the help.

Is there a cure for this Keith? I notice it on my floods in the off season with a 30 second animation set to loop.

I can’t remember. I think so but not sure. Problem is most people want the lights to go out.

Hello,
I am trying to do the exact same thing, and having the same issue with the effects not looping seamlessly. Has anyone found a way to make this smooth? Thanks!

I have created a lot of effect presets that will loop with a seamless look. My only suggestion is to play with not only the settings of the individual effect, but also the overall length of the effect too. They all play a part. I have some effects that are only 1 second long to get the seamless look, but yet others are 9 seconds long.
I wish there was an easier answer, but it takes time to get some of them just right.

The solution is to realize nobody is going to care about that 1 frame flash every 30 seconds.

Try telling my wife that!! :-\ :)

Yeah well we are not adding a "Figure out how to make my effect seamless" button.

How about a single On effect....works seamlessly.
