Title: XLights to E682 to Arduino to Relays
Post by: KingChaos on November 03, 2018, 05:40:25 PM
Hello,

I have XLights and E682's running all my pixels. I would like to add a relay board to control some AC lights. It seems the cheapest way would be to use and arduino. Has anyone had success using an Arduino to decode the signal coming from the controller output? Do you know where I can find an arduino sketch to do this?

Thanks

An arduinos sketch to read ws2811. Never seen that. Seen lots that take dmx data or e131 data.

The E682 will output DMX. Will that work?

Sure with the right sketch and a rs485 shield.

IF you have a Raspberry Pi 2B or 3B with any recent version of FPP installed.

The "easiest" and probably cheapest way I've found to use Relays for control of AC lights is to use the USB Relay boards sold by www.ICStation.com

They plug into a USB port on a RasPi. The 2 Relay and 4 Relay models get their operating power from the USB port. The 8 Relay board has a 5vdc power input.

Add them in the Channel Outputs "Other" section. Pick USBRelay, then ICStation, then TTYUSB0 to control. They work like a DMX device then (Universe and channel).

pick up an E131 bridge I run all my A\C channels with the bridge
