Title: Autogenerate effect Select
Post by: Travailen on January 16, 2014, 07:15:46 PM
Not all effects work well on every model. For example, Snowflakes are not the best choice for a house eve model.
So, I would like to suggest an autogenerator enable/disable selector for each effect. That way, before I ran an autogenerate, I could enable only the effects that I wanted the autogenerator to use. Then when I ran the autogenerate function, only the effects I enabled would be applied to the sequence.

Thanks,

Rick S

Perhaps in the Models configuration screen, it could open a List of Effects with "On/Off Autogenerate" check boxes by each effect name.

And a box to check for "Make this the default for all new Horizontal Matrix models"

Not sure this would impact the addition of New Effects and New Models.

i have been thinking about this. i could use something where we keep the red padlock confiugration in an xml file.

what effects work on single string and what works on megatrees are not the same.

you are right it would be model specific. i was thinking of allowing you to configure the auto config and then have a dropdown of those config screens to select from. you might have megtree, matrix as one, arches as second and eaves, borders as a third.

I like that idea Sean!

I guess I was thinking about something a little simpler. I was thinking I could just un protect locations I wanted the autogenerator to update. Then enable the effects I wanted to use for the update. Then autogenerate would update those locations using only the selected effects.
