Title: Importing Faces/ Effects
Post by: NOLA26 on November 29, 2018, 12:12:45 PM
I am playing around with faces on a tree and to learn, I downloaded "can't Stop the Feeling" sequence from the Google drive.  However, I can't seem to find out how to import the faces and animations for the tree.  Is there a faces/ eyes import feature?  I mapped the tree to my model and the face animation will not work.

FYI- I was able to get the eyes and all of the picture files to work by telling xLights where the file was located on my computer.  However, I can't seem to find the same soft of feature for the faces.

In a text editor, open the xlights_rgbeffects.xml file you are importing.
Use find and replace to fix any paths for your local computer
Copy all of the <faceInfo> sections
In a text editor, open your xlights_rgbeffects.xml
Paste the <faceInfo> sections

I've replaced all te paths and I notice that in the xlights_rbgeffects file, all paths are use forward slashes.  However, on my machine they are all backslashes.  Is this a programming language thing?  Should I use forward or back slashes?

Ok so I got Poppy to work by going into the model layout and selecting the face definition.   I guess since the face names are in the xml file I imported, I was able to select "Poppy."  I then hit download images.  I guess Logan put the poppy face image on the google drive, I was available for download.  Once I did that, the poppy part of the tree worked.  My question is now, how can I download the images that are not on the google drive.  I do not see an option to select a file path for the face you want.

You click in the boxes where the filenames go and it should bring up a file selection dialog and you navigate.  You may need to set all the images unless they got the smart name matching working.

Did you follow the process of creating a show directory for the sequence being imported underneath the target show directory, opening, rendering and saving the sequence there first, then switching back to the main show directory to do the import?
