Title: Updating effect

So when I change my effect configuration it doesn't seem to update live so I click the update button above and it still doesn't seem like it updates.  THe only way I can get it to update is to save the sequence but that takes almost a minute when you have videos in the sequence.

The effect in question is shockwave and I'm trying to shift the position.  Even the ripple effect when I change the thickness nothing changes unless I save the sequence.  Is this normal?  Thanks!

Maybe the effect takes a long time to render and every time you touch it the timer is reset because it starts the render over again.  If it's a big model group and the effect stretches a long ways a Shockwave can take a bit to render.
