Just want to make sure I am doing this right, normally I use 1 output per string. I have a Falcon F4V3 that I want to use to run a 16 string 180 degree tree with 48 nodes per string. If I go to my layout add the tree & set the start channel to 198.168.1.107 which is my F4 controller. Then :72 which is the first universe of the 4, then :1 which is the start channel. (pic. below) Will this setup the 16 strings with the correct address?

Strings is normally the number of connections to the controller. You then use strands per string to tell it how many times each string zigzags.

Does this look more like what it is suppose to be. I changed a little making 4 groups of 4 strings so it would spread out over the controller. Now how can I see that xlights has assigned the correct channels to the tree?

Forgot about the right click node layout. Found out it did not do what I wanted. Maybe some one can help me.
I have a F4 that I want to use for a 16 string 48 nodes per string 180 degree tree. I would like to have 4 strings per output. So i would have string one going up, connect string 2 at top & come down then 3 up & 4 down on one output. Should be simple but just can not get it set correct.

Based on your description the setup described should be what you want...I have mine setup the same (just more nodes and I start mine at the bottom left). I used the setup in your post and this is the node layout...4 ports with 192 nodes on each. What is wrong based on what you are looking for?

Thanks that did it. Actually it was my problem I had not changed the #nodes from 48 to 192.

I took my old to be retired original pixel tree and put it up on my back deck just for the heck of it. All I had was a Pi and PiCap to use so I put all the pixels on port 1 - 16 strands of 30 = 480 pixels put power injection at pixel 240 and the beginning of the last string (strands 15 and 16. I use physical strings of 60 with 30 up and 30 down.
config is 1 string, 480 pixels, strands = 16. I put the star on port 2 of the PiCap. Works great.
