Title: How di I model a string wrapped around a column?
Post by: Trooper on January 04, 2019, 08:24:05 AM: I have 5 columns on my porch and would like to wrap a string around each. What would be the best way to do this?

Post by: deplanche on January 04, 2019, 08:54:07 AM: Either use a matrix and understand that the real thing would be wrapped and not flat, OR use a tree model and adjust the top and bottom so that they are close to being the same diameter.

Post by: deplanche on January 04, 2019, 08:58:29 AM: I read your question differently than Gil. My answer is assuming that you were wrapping the string all the way around the column in a level fashion and then moving up to the next level and doing the same, all the way up.

Post by: Gilrock on January 04, 2019, 09:21:26 AM: Yeah I read it wrong also I thought you wanted to know how to model. The way I would wrap it is clockwise. Reach around the back with your left hand and grab it with your right hand and spiral it up as you go.

Post by: Trooper on January 04, 2019, 12:28:17 PM: It looks like if I add a tree a with one string and how many times I need it wrapped using the spiral wrapping it gives me the model I want.
