I see the compressed “tar.gz” files are no longer available for the 2019 xlights versions in OSX. What is the best way to install? I used to just drop the extracted folder it in my xlights folder. Does it need to go under applications now? Sorry...feel dumb asking how to install a program.

Double click the dmg file you downloaded to open. Drag and drop the contents anywhere you want on your machine.

Ok...so no difference then really. Everything will still function the same. Cool. Thanks.

Just a basic reason: Apple has announced that starting soon, OSX won't (easily) run apps that aren't both signed and notarized. That includes the package that the app comes in. There isn't a way to sign/notarize a tar.gz so shortly the tar.gz won't be usable anyway. Plus, I'm running out of space on my server so not uploading the tar.gz saves a little space.

Ok. Thank you for the explanation.
