I am currently on 2019-11. Is there a single file containing the effect presets that can be moved to my new folder? OR, can I point the program to look in the old location?
My old HD was almost full. I used Acronis to clone drive to larger SSD. I watched Keith's 2019 beginners course because I only got started last year before things changed forcing me to sit out for a while.
In the video it was recommended to use a single show folder an put everything in it. My old files were spread over three different folders. So to start fresh I made a folder in Documents. Rebuilt the layout etc. If this approach is wrong using My Documents instead of a folder inside of the c:\xlights, please advise. I am a bit confused.
Thanks a bunch

Well if you rebuilt your layout from scratch then its a bit of a problem because the presets go into the same file as the models. You would need to use Notepad++ and figure out how to copy and paste the preset section of the XML into your new xlights_rgbeffects.xml file.

Open your old rgb effects. Open your presets and export then all to an xpreset file. Then open your new one and import them.
You can export all presets into a single file.

Thanks Keith. I was able to do that.
So to be clear, does this folder structure follow safe protocol:
Documents\xLight Shows\Christmas\2019
or should I drop the 2019 and just label the sequences: song-year
I ask because a year or two down the road I assume the models and layout will change
I am sure you have answered this a million times and I appreciate your patience with me.

Here's the structure you want:
Documents\xLight Shows\2019\Christmas
