Title: an ip address question
Post by: charlie-68 on March 27, 2019, 12:56:21 PM
I was looking at my sequences today. I noticed that the sequences was acting up, I mean not playing. I did a check sequence and noted that the ip address xlights is outputting on is different from my computer ip address. Xlights is outputting on 192.168.0.10 and my computer ip address is 192.168.0.5. Is this a cause for concern I have not seen that before but I have not had a need to check it. The reason for checking is I'm getting a new controller and I redoing some of the outputs. I have not yet connected to the controller.   Thanks  Charlie J.

Yes I have a static ip address which is 192.168.0.5. Because of some problems I'm having I did a reset of xlights thru the command prompt. and now I'm seeing an address of 127.0.0.1. My problem is when I'm in sequencer. and playing the sequence the lights stop operating, xlights is not giving any errors. Check sequence shows no warnings or errors. Just the incorrect ip address so how do I change the ip address of xlights outputs from?
Also without an error message will this show up. I do have an xlight problem file in directory ,will it help to send that to you?  Charlie J.

I rechecked my computer network ip address which is 192.168.0.5. I went to xlights and to settings and clicked on forced ip and a popup window says " no local ip addresses found"  now what?

thinking about your next question I have connected my small controller and pinged the controller . I got up its web interface and changed the color order to make sure I can talk to the controller. I then opened xlights and I cannot get the lights to work with the test mode. My computer ip address is 192.168.0.5 and the controller ip address is 192.168.0.50. but xlights is outputting on ip address is now ok at 192.168.0.5.  The ip address did finally change but still no lights..

There are lots of possible reasons for that. By far the fastest solution is jumping into zoom and asking for help.

I do not have a microphone/headset for my computer so zoom I cannot do I guess I Will have to get one. I did finally got xlights to 'see' my ip address and I got it changed but still no lights. Like I said I can ping the controller and changes its settings but it does not respond to xlights. I will get on zoom after I get a head set for my computer.

You can join zoom on your phone for audio.

I do have a web cam with audio, so I tried to get on zoom, did the download but could not hear any one and no one heard me. tested the audio and it was ok. Is this an audio only or is there video too?

I now feel like a nube. I am up grading to a new controller and I forgot to change the universe numbers in the controller. I feel so dumb. All is working now just fine except that I did not get into zoom.  Charlie J.
