Title: How do you all find new colors?
Post by: JEBariffic on April 03, 2019, 10:08:09 PM
Just curious to learn if there is some method to finding colors you all might employ (x lights and falcon controller)?

I’d like to use different colors / shades for different song sequences and even parts of songs, but colors from color picker on monitor rarely translate well to my LEDs.

I’m not sure if it’s just a limitation of RGB LEDs, or if it’s perhaps a type / quality of the LEDs I use, or if there is some method of choosing colors that I’m just not stumbling into... Or perhaps it’s just me? :)

Appreciate sharing if any insights.

If you have a Pi connected to your controller you can use the display testing function in FPP under FILL and move the sliders in the individual colors until you get a color you like on your installed lights.  Then write down the numbers on each slider and use those when configure the colors in xlights.

It’s one thing to match light colors to the ones you see in your display. Gamma and brightness adjustments affect those colors. As for the colors you might use while sequencing, I make my own and then save the chart with the disk icon next to the color selector. You can find the RGB numbers you need n the net. Search for “RGB color chart”

Poppie, brightness adjustments made a huge difference. Was able to make subtle shade difference. Nice! Thanks for the tip!
