Good day to you all.
Using last year's show as a starting point for 2019, I have updated the software to 2019.21 64 bit. (I'm working totally in 2D.)
When I grab a prop and try to move it to a new location on the layout screen, the prop does not stay with the mouse cursor. In fact, the mouse moves 3 to 4 times the distance that the prop does. It takes repeated "grabs" to move the prop into place.
I've hunted through many of the threads here, but haven't found any mention of this behavior by anyone else. At least I didn't recognize a like problem. I've looked through all the settings within xLights to see if there may be something that would help. Again, nothing that I recognize.
Note that I do use a high resolution screen on my Dell XPS-15. I'm looking into this at this time, but nothing else (other computer programs) behaves this way.
Any ideas would be most appreciated.
Thanks.

This is the side effect of a recent change to address this symptom. It now works perfectly on my machine but clearly not yours so more work is needed. Just not sure what work.

Thanks Keith. I'm also investigating if the problem may be that my two monitors are different. I have a UHD (3840x2160) on the laptop, but the secondary monitor is only 1920x1024.
Of course I'm using this as an excuse to acquire a new UHD secondary monitor. 8)
I'll let you know what happens after the stores open (about 2 hours) and I travel back (about another hour).
(That will teach her to go off for a couple of days.!!!! ;) )

OK. I have added the UHD monitor to my sequencing computer (as a second UHD). Though it is VERY NICE to have all of this high resolution screen (a 15+" on the laptop and a 27" as the outboard), with equal settings on both, it didn't fix the problem.
Hey, it was a long shot - but worth it! ;D
Things that have improved with this addition is I haven't had the "ultra tiny drop downs" happen yet. (It's only been an hour. Give it time.) I also can span across both monitors and everything stays as it was on the initial. I can now stretch the sequencing window across both and it works just fine. :)
Thanks for taking another look at this. I'll live with the quirk for now.
Take Care

Just to bring this up to date.
I have removed all traces of xLights from my test machine. After a reboot, I deleted all unneeded drivers (such as display link, etc.) and then rebooted again.
Installed xLights 2019.21 64 bit.
The problem persists. :(

More interesting would be turning dpi back to normal

Where is that done?
Edit: Tried all the different variations under the right-click menus for the xLights64 icon. No go. :(
e.g., xLights icon, properties, compatibility, change high DPI settings.

Display options in windows

Note that this is being done on a "regular" monitor (single monitor - 1920 x 1080) equipped computer as well as my laptop with the UHD monitors (x2) attached. Both have now been cleaned and then reinstalled with 2019.21.
Both are exhibiting the problem.
Sorry. But thank you for the suggestion. I'll keep at it.

This same thing happens on my Mac too.

Glad you spoke up Kevin. I was just getting ready to fire up my Mac and load it there. Saved me from working in an area I'm not that familiar with. :)
-
In Windows is your scaling set to 100% under Display settings? I've got many programs that have issues if I use anything except 100%.
-
Sorry. Been a way for a while.
I'll check tomorrow when I have it all out again.

Possibly relevant information...
Dell XPS-15, i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60 GHz. 16.0 GB RAM.
x64-based processor, Windows 10 Pro (1803) - 64 bit operating system. (OS Build 17134.706)
Monitor 1 - attached to laptop.
3840x2160. Change size of text, apps, and other items set to 250% (Recommended).
Monitor 2 - secondary monitor, attached via USB3.1.
1920x1080. Change size of text, apps, and other items set to 100% (Recommended).
Displays are "extended".
Note that the above is my "traveling" setup. At home I substitute another UHD monitor for Monitor 2. It has the same resolution of 3840x2160 as the primary monitor. It is connected via the HDMI port on the laptop.
The problem described shows up on either setup.
Note that I tried to change the main monitor to 100%, but the text was so small that I could not read what it was trying to convey. No other program that I use has this problem.

To clarify are you saying the text in xLights was the only program that was too small at 100%? It should have affected everything.
-
No. All programs, commercial and otherwise (including xLights), had text too small to read when I tried to put it at 100%. When I put it back at the "recommended" 250%, all the programs were easy to read.
From time to time one of the popups in xLights will come up as a very small text, but that is the exception at this time and not my main focus. It is moving props on the layout screen that takes a bit of manipulation. ???

I may have a fix

I may have a fix
I've compiled the code and your fix is working on the Mac side of things. The models drag in sync with the mouse now.

Hopefully I'll get some time to put this to the test. Unfortunately my calendar in April and May is a disaster for getting time for fun stuff.
Just know that I truly thank you all for taking the time to look at and fix this.
As soon as I get an hour, I'll update and check it out.
Thanks Again.

I have some time. Where is this fix located?
