Title: Model Chain Logic?
Post by: nmiller0113 on September 27, 2019, 11:10:47 AM
I'm not sure that Subject Title is clear but I'll make it clearer here.  I'm trying to better understand what Model Chain means in my model setup in the layout tab.  The section in the model setup is not editable, so there is some logic to it being populated...I'm just not following what that it.  Some of them say "Beginning" and the rest of my models all use the name of one of my other models.  It doesn't make any sense to me what is filling that in and why the names are what they are.  Hopefully someone can make it clear because I've tried to reverse engineer it and have failed miserably.

There are 2 ways to set start channels for your props:

1. Set a start channel using one of the old school methods (absolute, #universe:start channel etc)
2. Set the name of the controller, the port and protocol in use, and the model chain order on the port.

Under #2 xLights then allocated the optimal start channel within the channels defined for that controller.
