Just for "fun" I created a 7x7x7 cube in a new xLights session (version 2020.01)
I played with a lot of different effects. Many just don't do much on a cube but some can look pretty sweet.
If you have experimented with a CUBE and had some luck, could you share the Effect and Settings?
If I find anything remarkable, I'll do the same

I think the best effects probably come from grouping sections of the cube into submodels and then chasing effects across the submodels. That's how you would make things wave or bounce.

Has anyone physically built a cube to run from xlights yet?

I think a couple have but also many users are modeling a yard full of Peace stakes as a cube model.

That idea is what got me looking. The cube doesn't have to be a cube. It can be 20 wide by 8 deep by 7 tall (just made those up. Not building)
I would advocate for the odd number for height, though. In the cube model, it does allow for "alternate pixels" so that you can run pixels UP a stake and then Down. When you alternate pixels, it brings the Data Out back to the bottom where it is a lot more convenient.
