Title: How can I tell what channels converted?
Post by: Voltorb on December 06, 2014, 05:51:26 PM
I've converted the attached LOR sequence to Xlights.  Channels 1-48 are single strand yard lights, and Channels 321-352 are single strand arches.  I have models created for all of these, but only channels 1-6 and 321-336 appear in the preview.  I get a message stating 337-352 are not mapped.
All of my sequences are in LSP, and I'm trying to get them into Xlights.  I got past the 0 length sequence issue thanks to to Kevin Smith on the LSP Facebook forum, but I'm stuck.  Any help would be appreciated!

Which are you questioning?  LOR or LSP?

I want to know what channels are in the Xlights sequence I converted from LOR.

When you convert, the status window will tell you which ones were not mapped. The rest will have been converted. The preview window will only show models that you've selected AS PART OF MY DISPLAY.  If you converted 1000 channels and your models don't have channels 900-1000, you won't see those in the preview.

I guess what I don't understand is why it says the channels are not mapped when they are.  The firs 2 of my four arches get converted, but the second two (channels right after the first two) say they are not mapped.

Scroll up to the top of the status window and check how many channels it found for each network and make sure each of your outputs has enough.   The normal cause for this is to have more channels in an output than your setup allows so there is no place to map those channels.

Is there a way to dig into the xseq to determine what channels are in there?

For the DMX channels that I had from 1 to 512, I built a Matrix model that had 200 pixels (600 channels).
It was 20 wide by 30 tall and a start channel of 1.

When it is in the preview window and you play your sequence, you see all the activity there. It is kind of hard to tell one channel from another at first, but you soon learn what your Arches or Snowflakes look like when the go on and off.

If you add it along with your other Nutcracker models, be sure to either leave the whole column blank or put None,None at the top to prevent overwriting the existing content.

Jon, THANK YOU!  That was driving me nuts!
The Xlights conversion moved channels 65-80 to 161-176, and channels 81-96 to 257-272.  That was an excellent idea about the Matrix!  Now I'm hoping it will consistently do that with all of my sequences.  Much easier to set new starting channels on the DMX lights than mess with this any more.

I've confirmed it's consistent!  Jon, I saw your post  about your conversion troubles, and thought I would try that version from March 2013, but it didn't put my channels where they were supposed to be either.
Thank you so much!
