Title: Bars Effect with more than 8 Colors?

Working on a mega tree with 1-2 strands being a color (vertically). Using bars effect, I can see adding 8 distinct colors, then rotating to the left (say) works.. but how might this be done for more than 8 colors?
A different effect entirely?

Going beyond 8 colours is tricky. There are some things you could do with spatial colour curves but that comes with complexity and limited movement options.
