Title: xLights configuration for Smart receivers
Post by: poporacer on February 10, 2020, 04:00:46 PM
If you have a model that uses several ports (let's use 8 ) and you are going to 2 smart receivers daisy chained (Say ports 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A and 1B, 2B, 3B, and 4B) How is that configured in xLights so that it will upload correctly?
I would think that it would be 8 strings and Port will be 1 and Smart Receiver should be *A*->b->c ? And what would the order of connections be? 1A, 1B, 1C, 2a...etc
Or 1A, 2A, 1B, 2b, etc?

And will it show up correctly in the Visualizer?

You can’t do that and upload it today.

I won’t say never but I am not sure how we could build the ui and still keep it simple.

Ok,
Makes sense, you guys are just so good at automating things I thought I was doing something wrong! It isn't hard to do it manually anyway.

If you have a good idea for how to represent in simply I am all ears. But think deeply. You have to consider all possible scenarios.

I was working on the exact same thing this afternoon.

In xLights, what is the best way to set up the models?

It looks to me that assigning a Universe # should work.  I had this mostly working but one of my strings was skipping the first 30 pixels.

More troubleshooting to do...
