Title: Long Model not able to be seen / crashes xLights
Post by: nzlongfellow on December 09, 2014, 09:29:36 PM
Hi, I have created a Horizontal Matrix.
80 vertical strips x 1 meter long x 30 pixels/m. essentially 80 x 30.
20 x 4 groups = 20 x 30 x 3 x 4off = 7200 channels.
Pixlite 4 with 3 and a bit universes each output.

When I do the model it is not visible on the screen.
It also causes xLights to crash, sometimes, when attempting to play.

Is this beyond the range is Nutcracker?

I have built 200x200 matrices, 480,000 channels. Yours should be no issue. U say u have vertical strips but then say u made a horizontal matrix?? Horizontal matrix mean strips are mounted horizontally. Does each strip start at the bottom? If yes, then model is just 80x30, vert matrix. If you are wrapping in a zig pattern then do 4x600 with 20 strands per string.

Thanks Sean.
First mis-understanding was the Vertical v's Horizontal. Now know it is the strip not the shape.
It is 80 vertical strips in zig-zag. All good.
Love NutCracker/xLights. Thanks so much for sharing.
A very Merry Xmas to you and your family.
