I have a sequence with a whole house group (in the top section of my master view) and I have a pinwheel effect on it, and then I have a Matrix (which is in the whole house group) in the lower section of my master view) that has a faces effect on it. I want the Faces effect to play "on top of" the pinwheel effect but I can't figure out how to do that with the layer blending. I can get it to work if I select the Allow Blending between Models in the Sequence settings but then all models blend and I would need to add some off effects to block the blending on other models. I think I tried every combination of layer blending on both the group and the matrix, but I couldn't get it to work. What is the right combination or do I need to set the Allow Blending Between models and add the Off effects where needed?

If the model ordering is correct in the Master View you don't need any special layer blending settings just using Normal will render the lower models on top of the upper models. This is so much easier if you post a sample.

I believe adding the off effects was the technique they used in the Greatest Showman sequence. If not, it will overwrite the whole house effect if you place effects on other models.

No he doesn't need that. The Off effect is only to prevent cross model blending. What he has is a failure of the model to do an overwrite...he doesn't really need a blend.
