Title: DMX Moving Heads Randomly twitch and move with a CAT6/7
Post by: jamesssydney on September 25, 2020, 09:33:16 PM
Afternoon All,

just purchased a flat CAT6/7 cable to run under some carper to control a series of DMX controlled moving heads. As soon as I plug the cable into the 2nd RJ45 port on the F16V3 all of the DMX heads begin to twitch and move like a test pattern of some sort is running. If I switch the cable back to a regular Cat5 no movement and the lights operate as intended once the show is launched from Xlights.

Even with the Cat6/7 connected I can't  lanch a show from Xlights nothing happens?

Just wondering if I can use a Cat6/7 cable or is there a setting I can change?

Cheers

James

It sounds like a bad cable.

Perhaps the Cat6/7 have the extra "shielded connectors" with metal on the outside, and it is picking up noise from those?
