Title: Why do my models have String 1 on every universe?

Can't figure why when doing a sequence, my model is doing this?

Double click the model name it should collapse the strand so its not visible.  All models have strands and nodes.  You could double-click the strand 1 name and it will expand to show the nodes layer.
