Title: Blacking out indivdial nodes
Post by: spaulgal on December 12, 2020, 10:01:29 PM
Hello using X lights with Falcon Controllers.
I have several pixel "Neon" strips going up roof slopes, and I'd like to black out the first few pixels because they are dangling off the gutter.
I imagine there's a few ways to do this, what's the preferred method?
Thanks!

My preferred way it to cut them out

You can set them as null pixels so they just transmit data and do not light up

If they are the first pixels in the string you can configure them as null pixels..  Even if using multiple strings tied together you can use virtual strings and still have the first couple of pixels as null.  Only pixels at the beginning of a string can be null pixels.  But you can creatively define your string lengths using virtual strings.

What is the exact process for setting up the beginning of a string for Null nodes?

I do see the setting in the layout menu. At first I could not get it to work (I set it to 12 for testing) -- I got it to save, but it would not seem to physically execute in the pixel string. Then, (the next day) the change seemed to take effect. Now I cannot get rid of the 12 Null nodes.

I'm assuming I'm missing an executable between Layout and Sequence.

Thanks!

uncheck the box that says set null pixels I would guess since I have never done it.

Insightful lol, but yes I've tried that.
Is there an executable that needs to happen in order for changes to show in the sequencer after they have been updated in Layout?
