Title: Delay in last nodes of a string (solved)
Post by: michaelc on December 19, 2014, 05:25:25 AM
I was doing some testing of my e681 and some pixabulbs. Im noticing delays in the end of the strings.  It's only 50 nodes and as you can see I'm connected directly to the e681 running an Xl test,  I also notice the same delay when running the e681 internal tests.  Any ideas?https://vimeo.com/114969146 (https://vimeo.com/114969146)

Doesn't look like delay to me - that is a bad pixel that is missing/ignoring data but occasionally getting it right.

I've got the same thing going on my roof right now. Pixel #51 (8th from the end) is not quite right and worse when it rains. When it dries out later today, it is getting replaced.

Sometimes, though, it can look like #8 (for example) is the problem when it is really #9. It may work perfectly DataIn is wrong on DataOut.

I did not notice any delay either, but did see the bad pixel, remember when you are going to change the pixel change the one in front of it also, could be a bad chip

Ouch! next time you place an order always order a extra string just for things like this.

+1   i often order several extras because I am always coming up with other new props to try and I like to have some lights available to do that.  Of course those are also backups during the season.  I try to have a backup for most things in my show, because I would hate to have to pull the plug in mid season.  Of course then I have all this extra stuff to try other things with and the show just seems to grow or at least change and then I have to order more stuff next season again.  I think I have ordered at least twice a year from Ray Wu.  Even now with the show running I've got something I want to try and need more lights so this might become the 3rd order this year. LOL

I have 12 sets of the pixabulbs from diyledexpress. Besides the one I posted I have two other sets with some flaky things happening. I'm gonna troubleshoot in the morning

Turned out to be old firmware on the e681.  Problem resolved.  Only 1 bad bulb in 12 strings.
